# Increase Kafka topic partitions

> Increases a topic's partition count. Not allowed on Artie-managed topics (anything under `<companyUUID>.` outside the customer namespace, or Kafka-internal `__` topics), because adding partitions breaks per-key ordering for Artie pipelines.
