Retention and tiered storage

Days on broker disks	1 to 14. Defaults to 3.
Default retention	14 days, including topics created automatically on first write.
Retention on topics with tiered storage	1 to 14 days, even while tiered storage is paused. Keeping messages forever isn’t available.
Largest message	15 MiB
Reserved topics	Kafka’s internal `__` topics and `strimzi.cruisecontrol.*` topics can’t be changed or deleted.
Topics that can use tiered storage	Any topic except compacted topics and Kafka’s internal `__` topics.

Users and access

	Limit
Users	One `admin` user with access to every topic. Custom users and ACLs aren’t available yet.
Authentication	SASL/SCRAM-SHA-512 over TLS.
Network access	Public address with an IPv4 allowlist. PrivateLink isn’t available.

Account limits

Each company can have 3 clusters by default, with a monthly spend limit per cluster and across all clusters. Creating a cluster, restoring a deleted one, adding brokers, changing the instance type, and growing storage all check these limits. A company admin can request a higher limit in Settings > Product limits.
