Artie Managed Kafka is an Apache Kafka cluster that Artie runs for you on AWS. You create topics and point your apps at it. Artie runs everything underneath.

What Artie runs

  • Brokers and machines. Each broker runs on its own machine, with three replicas of every partition.
  • TLS. The cluster uses a public TLS certificate, so clients don’t need a truststore.
  • Storage. Storage autoscaling grows each broker’s disk before it fills. Tiered storage moves older messages from broker disks to object storage.
  • Network access. A public address that only accepts the IP ranges you allow.
  • Monitoring. Graphs and consumer groups for every cluster in the Artie Dashboard.

What you control

  • Topics, partitions, and retention.
  • The cluster’s size: brokers, instance type, and storage per broker.
  • Which IP ranges can connect.

How you connect

Clients connect over TLS with SASL/SCRAM-SHA-512, using the cluster’s admin user. Any Kafka client that supports SCRAM works. See Connect to your cluster.

Moving from another Kafka cluster

Already running Kafka somewhere else, like Amazon MSK or your own brokers? Choose Move from another Kafka when you add a cluster and book a call with us. We’ll plan the move with you and help you bring your topics over.

Next steps
